Going back through the semi-brief history of this blog...
I've noticed that I tend to give albums a lot of 4's. And then I noticed that I've almost only reviewed albums and artists that I tend to like, and more importantly, albums and artists that I would recommend that others should buy and/or listen to/check out. And then I remembered that's why I started this blog in the first place, for the sole intention of spreading the word and turning other people into hipsters. And then I came to the realization that placing number values on all these albums and artists that I like and want other people to listen to/check out, is just simply stupid. Not that rating albums is always stupid (Pop & Hiss is probably the best and well trusted music blog around and are usually very spot on with their ratings, but even they tend to give a lot of good scores so I assume they have a similar philosophy...maybe?). Right around the time I started this blog, semi-super-occasional contributor john k. told me he was "not going to buy an album just to give it a bad review", and thus, he was correct. So for now on, no more #s (I mean, who am I to tell you if an Architecture in Helsinki album is a 4.0 or a 4.5? If it's good, it's good). I recommend everything (for the most part) that appears on this site, and will use a new scale of judging things (wait, isn't that still 'ratings'?) that are likened to the grading system of the hippie professor you had in college who taught international film and refused to adhere to the practices of the common letter grade system. Basically, check out everything I post on here, which will come with a degree of urgency that looks like this:

About as elementary and self-explanatory as it gets.
